Margaret’s Story

Mar 19, 2021 | IGEN Blog

Margaret was watching TV, when she had the worst headache of her life. Soon after presenting to the Emergency room at Ascension Genesys hospital, Grand Blanc, she became more and more drowsy. Margaret was found to have a very large bleed in the cerebellum, a part of the hindbrain located in a very confined space, making her condition all the more dire. It was feared she was not going to make it. Margaret was immediately taken for surgery by Dr Khan in an attempt to save her life. The large blood clot was successfully removed. She made it through the surgery and then, began the recovery process. From being able to move no more than one of her big toes in the neurointesive care unit, she progressed to inpatient rehab and finally, made it back home. She now lives independently, managing her own affairs. Excellent care from multiple specialties   made the great outcome possible.   It was gratifying to see the results of our efforts, when she came to our clinic at IGEN for follow-up. “Dr Khan saved my life,” she informed the staff, as she was leaving after the appointment.
